Lazy Day

This is the first day we had a dusting of snow in many, many months.

According to the weather guy, this is the driest winter since the late 1880's.

I bought a sprinkler a couple of days ago

so I could water the parched grass and plants.

I even put out a bit of seed for the little birdies.

Every morning I look out on this sight,

my little reading angel

hanging out amidst the remnants of last summer's petunias.

The dead flowers are left in the basket

partly because of nostalgia

partly because I am lazy

but mostly

because my little reading angel

told me

she likes company.

I feel like my little angel today.

I want to curl up with a good book

snuggle in some warm cover

and get lost in another world.
